Initial situation

From 1993 to 2024, the children and youth policy hub in Berlin served as the central coordination office for youth participation. It connected stakeholders, provided training, and promoted the integration of children’s and young people’s interests and participation at both district and state levels.

Task

We supported the hub in its public relations efforts and created various publications and materials. One of these was the notepad “Meine Rechte – Mein Block”, which informs children and young people in Berlin about their rights in a fun and accessible way.

Implementation/Results

Within the Drehscheibe network, there was a recurring demand for easy-to-understand information materials on topics such as children’s rights and democracy. A particular challenge was that the materials needed to be reusable, rather than intended for a single use. This led, among other things, to the idea of the notepad. The second edition presented here, entitled “My Rights – My ” and illustrated by Emmanuel A. Murzeau, explains in simple language and using examples from young people’s everyday lives where they can have a say. They are invited to think about their school life, their neighbourhood or their home. They also learn who can help them with any questions and how participation works. And last but not least, “My Notebook” is also a notepad that brings a bit of fun into your day-to-day life with little games.
