Initial situation

In the 1990s, the number of democracies worldwide increased significantly. This trend continued until around 2005. Since then, the number of democratic states has been steadily declining. At the beginning of December 2025, Statista published data based on the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) research project, according to which only 29 countries worldwide will be considered liberal democracies in 2024. Targeted and sustained commitment is needed to counteract this worrying development.

Task

Power for Democracies has laid the groundwork for effective democracy promotion through in-depth research. Our task was to develop a graphic design for this important project and to present the findings in an appealing way – with the aim of making Effektiv Spenden’s commitment to the Democracy Fund more visible and understandable.

Implementation/Results

We developed a design concept for the individual publications and implemented it for the first four countries. The focus was on presenting the results in a clear, transparent and visually appealing way.
