Initial situation

In 2006, HOTSPLOTS was among approximately 100 providers offering access and billing systems for wireless internet usage. The company catered to private individuals, neighbourhood initiatives, and the hotel and catering industry. Despite the rapid growth of the market, Hotsplots GmbH struggled to capitalise on it, even though they offered a superior solution compared to the market leader, Deutsche Telekom.

Task

Relaunch the brand, and develop and implement a sales-oriented communication strategy.

Implementation/Results

Our first step was to shift the company’s focus from private customers to business customers. We then modernised the entire brand identity. All the necessary measures and materials – from brand workshops, corporate identity/corporate design development, logo and website relaunch, product literature and presentations to employee surveys, advertising, direct marketing and PR – were developed and implemented by united communications.

To attract partners, we worked with the managing directors to develop a strategy for the nationwide acquisition of partner companies. Another relaunch of the company website took place in 2017. In 2020, HOTSPLOTS already had around 17,000 customers with up to 1,000 access points in some cases.

In January 2024, HOTSPLOTS was acquired by the French company Wifirst.
