Initial situation

relayr, a small but ambitious IoT start-up from Berlin, wanted to present itself to a wider audience as a new and important player. To this end, the company planned to organize a hackathon that would inspire the maker community and raise awareness of the relayr brand at the same time. relayr won Bosch Siemens Home Appliances (B/S/H) as a cooperation partner. This company wanted to strengthen its reputation in the field of intelligent household appliances. Together, they organized the “Hack The House” hackathon in an impressive old Berlin apartment.

Task

To create branding, a website and a social media strategy for the hackathon, including using B/S/H’s wider reach to boost relayr’s brand.

Implementation/Results

Thanks to the good planning and implementation (logo, website, social media strategy), the involvement of sponsors such as Conrad Electronic and Nest, the reporting via Twitter and the participation of Heise, Germany’s largest IT publisher, this hackathon was also a complete success in the follow-up reporting. relayr. was acquired by Munich Re in 2018.
