vegconomist: WordPress TechOps and Multilingual Publishing Infrastructure support

Initial situation

vegconomist is the leading B2B magazine covering the plant-based and alternative protein industry, publishing for English- and German-speaking audiences — and previously for French and Spanish markets as well. Running four live editorial sites as a single, coherent system, while keeping each one able to operate on its own, is an ongoing technical commitment rather than a project with a clear finish line. We came on board as their WordPress technical operations (TechOps) partner in 2023 to support this work.

Task

Our role is to handle the everyday technical operation of all vegconomist properties. This includes a carefully tested pipeline for updating WordPress core, plugins, and themes; managing advertising integrations and ad server configuration (AdOps); monitoring performance and responding to incidents; and applying security patches on a regular, rolling schedule. Alongside this, we led the complete technical launch of Cultivated-X by vegconomist — a new brand focused on the cultivated meat and alternative protein sector — handling everything from setting up the infrastructure to handing over the editorial tools.

Implementation/Results

We manage five active WordPress properties: vegconomist.com, vegconomist.de, cultivated-x.com, and previously vegconomist.fr and vegconomist.es. Our tested update process runs across all of them without ever interrupting the editorial team’s work. The advertising layer remains stable, with commercial campaigns delivered reliably even under heavy editorial activity. Cultivated-X launched as a standalone brand in 2024, and our technical support continues today.
